Is this possible to trace?

Hi all,

I hope it's OK to post this. It's a bit complicated but I'm hoping someone may be able to help or advise.

My DH has decided to trace his grandparents. His parent, the child of these grandparents, was put up for adoption and, while they attempted to trace their parents while alive, this parent has now died. They also had some mental health difficulties which made communication difficult.

We have found DH's parent's original birth cert, with the names, occupation and address for both parents. We believe that the parents subsequently married shortly after the birth of DH's parent, and may have had more children.

We don't wish to upset or cause anyone distress, or drop a bomb on anyone's family. However, DH would like to know if there is more family out there somewhere - more so for knowledge rather than to turn up on anyone's doorstep.

Considering we have the parents' names, is there anywhere or anyway to see if they had subsequent children? Like baptism or a way to search a mother's name and a father's name together and see what pops up? I hope this makes sense. As I said, we don't want to intrude on anyone's life, that's why we're hesitant to do a DNA test as, if the subsequent children don't know about DH's parent, it might be a shock.

Thanks so much for any help.

Use free bmd and you search under surname and mothers maiden name.

Yes this is fairly easy to do on FreeBMD. Message me and I am happy to do some digging and see what I can find.

Why doesn't your dh do an Ancestry DNA test ?
My dh did and it answered questions he needed answered. Life changing for him.
