Finding a grave from 1937

Hi, this is my first dabble with genealogy.
My uncle died when he was 8 in 1937 in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

I have found some record of him and based on that I have got a copy of the death certificate.

This allowed me to find some details of his burial ( in October 1937) but I'm struggling to find the exact location. I'm not sure whether it refers to a village or a parish. None of the churches I have looked have seem to have a record of him being buried there.

I wondered whether anyone here had any suggestions . He died of diphtheria in 1937. He was 8. Is it likely he would have had a standard grave?

Could it be a cemetery on its own? What does it say?
The type of grave would depend on how much money they had.

I was going to suggest a cemetery too. By 1937, I think most burials would have been in cemeteries rather than church yards.

Could he have been buried with grandparents or other family?

Thanks.. I'll check the cemeteries. His father was a gamekeeper so they wouldn't have had much money.

I know that in some cases a child may be laid to rest in with another adult who had passed away, if the family didn't have the means to afford a new lair. Not sure if this was only in the case when it was a very small child though. You would likely need to know the cemetery though to search the record for each grave.

Try findagrave.com in the first instance

If not the local council records in Yorkshire have been pretty good for me.

Do you know where he died? Rather than it happening where he lived, might he have gone to a sanatorium or to a relative's house in the countryside or near the sea and sadly died and was buried there?

Thanks everyone. He died in the hospital from Diptheria. I've contacted the parish and hope they might help. I wonder if perhaps his grave is unmarked which is why his name isn't on one of the lists of gravestones

I'd say that the unmarked grave is highly possible, especially as you say the family didn't have much cash. Local family history societies may be able to help you too, most are on Facebook and full of enthusiastic helpers who will be delighted to give specific advice on your location.

Thanks. I didn't know about him until recently. Seems really sad that no one knows where he is.
