Any idea what this photo shows? I’ve no idea who anyone is and because it’s mounted in card there are no written clues.

At first glance I thought it was a triple wedding before the men headed off to war. But the lady on the far right with flowers has no obvious groom!

Sadly not so I’m now left with the dilemma of keeping it as a little bit of history knowing my kids won’t be interested or just disposing if it now

What a shame. We’ve all learnt a lot here from trying to work out details though.

It seems unusual in that the pose/ expressions are quite informal but it must be quite a wealthy family to have kitted out all of those attendants, big and small?

Well that’s my view anyway!

I'd say it's definitely 1940s - maybe just after war (I've photos of relatives just post-war in similar clothes; also I have somewhere a book about dating photos by using the fashion in them).

As a PP suggested, get it onto a FB page where you think it might have been taken. It happens a lot near here - names of pub landladies and blokes with horse teams and bridesmaids in wedding pictures.

My DH who is a genealogist, thinks the phtograph is in 1930s between the wars, 1 Bride, 2 older bridesmaids and the little ones.
But, he thinks the Groom and ?Best man look like Policemen or Firemen.
You would need a magnifying glass to look at the buttons on their uniforms which would help with identification.

im going to go against the grain, looking at the clothing of the guests and the style of the wedding dress I think its post war, late 40s

Its definitely WWII era.

I have a lot of family photos from the period and have been fanscinated by the family military history.

The women's clothing is the dead give away though. Women's clothing for a wedding around WWI would have been more corsetted and tight fitting.

I think the uniform is either army junior officer or RAF dress uniform.

See:
www.epicmilitaria.com/british-ww2/uniforms/tunics-trousers.html

The raf uniform appears to have a belt and i think you can just about see that on the photo and i think the colorised photo looks more navy (and fits with women in photo also wearing navy rather than khaki)
