Hello, I'm trying to find a relative that I have not seen for many years and I'm wondering if this person is still alive, I was wondering if anyone can help me in my search.

TIA.

I've still been searching since my last post, nothing found though, not even on familysearch.org

Anyone else have any ideas?

Do you know the country/area where he may now be living? If so, you could maybe write to local newspapers, or to womens' magazines in that country, saying you are trying to trace him. I see letters like that in my local paper sometimes.

Was he ever in the armed forces? Their records might throw up something.

Did he have children, or are they any relatives of his former spouses around who might have some information?

Have you searched for a will?

The last marriage that I have found ended locally, no will located.

Never in the armed forces.

Former spouses all remarried after their divorces, another relative has also had no luck finding this man and has now given up the search.

Salvation army have so far drawn a blank.

Other connections who might know whereabouts?

Professional bodies (Accountant, Engineer, Dr?)

School / University links / Military regiment / Clubs (Rugby, Cricket etc)

Particular hobbies?

Have you tried a google image search?

A bit old fashioned but my FIL's cousin found him after placing ads in all the local newspapers close to where they grew up as children. Her family emigrated to Australia over 60 years ago and unbelievably someone who knew him spotted the ad.

Local newspapers have drawn a blank, electoral register for all nearby counties show nothing. Google images no result.

Other connections that I know of are long since gone.

I don't know enough about his hobbies or other interests although womanising seems to have been a favourite pastime

Wild stab in the dark I know, but have you searched on name variants? If he was John Frederick Smith for instance, have you searched for Frederick John Smith or Fred Smith? Or John Smythe?

Yes, first name can't be shortened, only variation of surname would be without an s, I also tried searching without middle names or with only one or the other middle names or with just initials, the second middle name is unusual in itself (although I came across someone else with the same names but slightly different spelling born about 50yrs earlier)
