I am sure I should know this, but is it possible to access my outlook inbox from home? I have just started a new job this wek and am sometimes away from the office for days at a time. I have windows 2003 on my home PC, and have outlook on it, but it I do not log into it IYSWIM, it is always open.

So can anybody help? I need to check if a document has arrived and will not be in the office again til Friday.

TIA

If it's an internal company email server then you probably won't be able to access it without some kind of secure connection.

If it's not secure then you'll still need the server details to set up your Outlook. Would be surprised if this were the case though.

You may have access to secure webmail -- you'd need to ask at work (you may be able to phone and ask).

Our IT had Outlook set up so that you can access your inbox from any PC via a secure portal which is v handy.

But if you are out of the office a lot, can't they provide you with a laptop and remote access ?

I have a laptop, but am terrified of breaking it! Maybe thats what I'm supposed to do then!

I will check when I'm back in the office, and make sure I bring the blasted thing home when I am away from the office for two days next week. Thanks all! I was beginning to confuse myself with POPs and IMAPs and other terms I don't understand!

is really easy set up.they email you a login link to an email account and you access via that.

It's all down to what your company offers. Some offer web access, some might allow access via something like Outlook Express, others might ask for you to use Outlook and there will be some who won't allow it at all.

There's no one single method so check with your IT department.
