How much memory will I get for an iphone- 16 or 32gb?

I plan on getting an iphone as my current contract ends next week

I'll be using it for photos, videos and lots of apps so will 16gb be enough? Don't really want to fork out more money for the 32gb if I don't need to!

I've got quite a few photos and about 5 pages of apps on my 8gb 3G model - I can happily fit 1 film or 2-3 episodes of a tv show on as well as a couple of gb taken up by music

I think the main difference is that with more memory, it loads faster and responds quicker - that may or may not be important to you

The extra memory won't make much, if any, difference to the the loading or response speeds. It's purely extra space to store stuff.

So if you need the extra space very much depends on how much stuff you want to store.

I don't have any videos but I do have about 1400 songs, 1000 photos and "only" a couple of pages of apps on my 16gb iPod Touch and to me it feels a bit squished and I have to juggle what's on it pretty much constantly.

However that said I do have my music set to record at a pretty high quality, higher than you really need for headphones alone.

Without knowing exactly what you want to do and what you consider "reasonable" it's very hard to judge what size you would need.

However you've now got a couple of responses about what people can fit on their gadget so maybe you can begin to see how you might fare.

now I'm confused - ds has got a 32gb ipod touch (birthday and christmas present rolled into one) and it loads much quicker than my iphone - I'd assumed it was the extra space but I know nothing about techy things so am not surprised to be wrong!

The 3rd Generation iPod Touch, which came out last year, uses the same internals as the iPhone 3GS which is more powerful than the original iPhone.

So if you've got not got an iPhone 3GS and you do have a new iPod Touch then then Touch will indeed be quicker. However that's due to what's inside being more up to date than the size of the memory.
