ok, now, I am absolutely no expert but I think you need to make sure that your music library is NOT synced with your computer. When you connect it to the computer, click on your ipod icon in itunes & click on the 'music' tab in the main window. There should be a box there which asks whether you want to sync. Say no!

Dh reckons you have to configure it so you're telling the new laptop that it's not the parent laptop for your Ipod, and that there is a way to do this. Except we can't remember how - just plug it in and follow the steps when it identifies new hardware (the ipod), and the parent thing should be an option. We think.

A bit like putting a dead lamb's skin on an orphan lamb so that the mother sheep takes it on?

I'd defnitely un-sync as well though

The first time you connect the iPod to the new computer a pop up from iTunes will appear asking something about whether or not you want iTunes to automatically manage/sync your music for you.

Say no, or pick the option that says you want to manually manage your music.

From then on when you want to add new music import it into iTunes, connect your iPod and manually drag the music onto it.
