...that will ensure we get it right?

DH has delusions of grandeur amateur photographer ambitions and has all the kit.

I found the instructions on what conditions an acceptable passport photo has to meet. And we have all the kit to print photos.

However, how do I make sure the resulting photograph is the right size or rather the head is a reasonable size IYKWIM?

I've just done a very wet trip to the local shop with photobooth and I think trying to hold up a very small 3 month old is a bit a recipe for disaster...

Any advice gratefully received !

Yes, we used one called passpic I think, was great. You took the photo yourself, upload, they print and post to you - and guarantee that if the IPS reject it they'll refund you.

www.paspic.com. Your DH could at least take the photos and choose one to upload, if not print yourself. I remember lying DS on a cream sheet on the floor and taking hundreds from above. Looks nothing like him

Thanks for that .

There seem to be a few places that offer that kind of service.
I was wondering whether there is anything that makes sure you print things in the right format/size at home IYSWIM. Rather that waiting for them to post it back (not that we have left it to the last minute, no, not at all ).

Do you not have a photographer's shop that does it? In my local one they just lie them on a cushion and take the pic.

After spending hours and a fortune in a photobooth with DD1 when we got her first passport, we took DD2 along to local Jessops and they did in in 2 minutes - so handy

PacificDogwood · 08/06/2010 21:21

No, there is nothing local to us anymore (shop closed during worst of the credit crunch ).
2 years ago we took the picture ourselves and the shop had the computer/software to get passport sized photographs that complied with all the conditions as outlined in the linked document.

I was just wondering whether there was a way to do all of it ourselves as we do have a fancy-pancy photo printer and all that jazz .

I'll give that a go.

I had seen holiday to introduce youngest member of the tribe to rest of family abroad going down the drain...

Make sure there is enough of child's head filling the photo. Mine was sent back as it didn't fill 80% of the space (or something) That was one done at a photographers. I then went to a booth at the railway station, used a series of props, stepladders, cushions and interested passers-by to help and lo and behold, perfick...
