Probably daft question but when using internet at home on iphone is it better to use wireless network or 3g.Presumably also when out better to use 3g and not get sucked intp bt openworld (or whatever its called).

Another stupid question but what is the best way to access Email through it,with my last phone I just accessed through internet and didn't get Emails actually sent to phone, can I save battery by turning this option off on the iphone and how do I do it?

I'm no expert, but I don't see any difference in quality using 3G network or my home broadband. If you're out and about, BT Openworld and The Cloud are free to use (if you're iPhone's on O2), so they can be useful for getting online if you're O2 signal is low.

My email is set to download new messages when I open the email app, so it's not checking for new messages during the day. I think this set up saves battery life.

Hope this helps.

3G is the single biggest battery drainer so I have it turned off whenever I'm at home.

I turn off 3G and location services when I'm at home & have blutooth & email push off all the time. (I also turn the brightness down to just under halfway, which really cuts battery use without any real disadvantage, except in very bright sunshine)

To change your email settings you need to scroll down the settings page- the mail section is just below General. You can turn off push and set Fetch to manual or a variety of intervals- every 15 mins, hour or whatever, can't remember exactly.

If you have more than one email account you can touch Advanced to set each one to Fetch or Manual separately. (this is on the 3G btw, the 3Gs may be slightly different)
