My computer is running extreemly slowly and more than not freezes. Im am pretty sure this is down to it having viruses.

Today I signed into facebook and it told me someone in bulgaaria had tried to access my account and asked me to make a new password, so im thinking that I need to get this issuse sorted sooner rather thaan later.

problem is that I havennt a clue where to start but dont have the money to pay someone to do it for me.

so im just hoping someone on here could advise me how best to get rid of all the crap on my comptuer to make it run faster and protect it also. Im trying to write my dissertation atm so I rely on my computer a lot.

TIA

you can try system restore - but first I would go through all your files etc and delete anything you don't want or need.

Then turn your pc off and open up again in safe mode - press f8 continually

then when in safe mode the pc looks different - not a problem

then do system restore - its in preformance and maintenece.

take the pc back to a date when it was rnning fine

then the pc will turn off and back on again - let it do that and it should reopen in normal mode

I would try the Malwarebytes first,it might do the trick.

this is another good download for deleting unwanted clutter from your pc and again it is reccommended and safe.

What security do you currently have?

What version of Windows are you running?

Has it been regularly updated?

Do you use the same password across all your different accounts on different websites?

both my dd's had that on their fb accounts last week.....one dd got her account completely hacked

Presuming that this is Windows (let us know if it's not....).

The first thing is to scan the computer for any nasties and to remove them.

I think that MalwareBytes does this but my personal favourite is AdAware Free:
www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

If your machine is too slow and you can't get that installed or if it's still slow after it's run then press CTRL, ALT and DEL and then select Task Manager. Click on the CPU column until the high values are at the top of the list (I think that that takes two clicks).

Are there a handful of "Image Names" that keep popping up to the top with "high" CPU values?
