I am RUBBISH at computers. I mean, really, really crap. I have been trying all day to open a word document that was emailed to me but it keeps opening in something called wordpad??? No idea why.........Have gone onto windows help, rebooted, system figuration something or another...I use Vista Business if that makes a difference.....

TIA

When you look at the email and you can see there is an attachment, is there an option to view as an HTML? If so, do that, then cut and paste the text into a new word document.

Have you tried opening word then opening the document via the 'open' button IYSWIM?

Sounds like maybe a mac/PC compatibility problem perhaps. hough I am no expert.

Wordpad is a cut down word processor that's provided with Windows.

What is the full name of the file? Do you see an extension (.doc or .rtf perhaps).

Are you sure that it's a Word Document?

Save the file to somewhere on your machine, such as the desktop, and then right click on it.

What is the "type of file"

It should also say "Opens With", and I'm guessing that says "Wordpad".

You can change it so that either that file, or all files of that type, opens with another program (such as Word).

Save file to desktop from the email (if a mac) right click and choose "open with" then choose which application you want to open the file with in this instance "word" and it should open fine....HTH
