I've been with the same network for ages and thought it was about time I changed!I've rang up T-mobile and asked them to cancel my contract-apparently it takes a month before they completely close me down.
However-and I know most people must think i'm thick when I ask this but-,I have got loads and loads of photos on my phone which, for some reason, won't transfer onto my memory stick.
If I'm being "closed down",does this mean that I won't be able to use my phone at all even just to access my photos?
I feel stupid asking the question but I'm absolutely not phone-savvy.

I think it depends where your photos are stored on your phone. If they are on your Vodafone sim card then you may lose them but if they are stored on your actual phone's memory then you may not. I think!

What network are you moving to?

Does it have Bluetooth? You can transfer them remotely at a Boots (or anywhere else that does instant photos) onto a CD then copy them onto your computer at a later date.

What model of phone is it? That should help us check what's possible re copying photos off it...

T-Mobile phones will accept Virgin Mobile SIMs, and the phone itself won't 'close down' but might say something like 'cannot register SIM' once the existing T-Mobile SIM /number is cancelled. So you only need to get another T-M or VM SIM for the phone to be 'live' again.

Search for "Free (network) SIM" on the web, or look for a PAYG SIM on (say) Ebay, as you may still want to make the odd emergency call. Don't get locked into some fee being paid monthly, else you're back to pretty much having a contract phone again (but on less generous terms, usually).

If it has Bluetooth, you can buy a USB Bluetooth 'dongle' (for under a fiver, inc post) that should allow transfer to your PC. Check Ebay.
