Copying dvds

Hi

Is there any way that I can copy a protected DVD for free hopefully?

DD is in hospital a lot and her DVDs are getting scratched, skipping, broke etc. Was thinking that if I could put them on the computer then would save me having to replace them and I could put them onto a memory stick if that would be possible.

Any help would be great

Thanks

Do you use a mac or a PC? Don't know much about a PC, but if you are using a Mac look at a programme called Handbrake. It will copy 'most' copy-protected DVDs. If you're on a PC I'd recommend googling 'PC equivalent of handbrake"...hope that helps!

Handbrake is available for Windows.

MacTheRipper is an alternative on Mac too.

Thanks for this.

I really haven't a clue about any of this. It's a laptop with windows on it. Have downloaded it now, is it easy to use?

If this is genuinely for backing up DVDs that you already own, and once you've done so you will no longer need the software, then I highly recommend the fully functional (but time limited) free trial of DVDFab - it is excellent and very user friendly (IMHO!)

You would choose "DVD to Mobile" to convert the DVD contents into .AVI format which will then play on the laptop, no worries
