I know I'm dim - want to record a bit of Top Gear

have spent blinking ages trying to find a particular clip from Top Gear that I want, to record it onto CD. (Want to use it on my laptop for a lesson.) It's the clip where they put a mini on skiis and send it down a ski jump.

a) how do I find the clip? Can't seem to find it on Iplayer. It's episode 7, i think.

b) can I just save it onto any old blank CD? or does it have to be a special sort?

Sorry to be dim, hope someone can help.

Is this it?

Well it took me over an hour of googling and Iplayering to FAIL to find that clip, and you took a couple of minutes. Fantastic, thank you. Can I save it onto something so I can show it without having the internet on? CD?DVD? or memory stick?

there will be copyright issues i think

I think the video clip is this file and I have seen add-ons for Firefox which suggest they allow the user to download (for saving to hard drive/ USB stick) various movie files from websites.

I've no idea which add-on is best, as I avoid Macromedia Flash files (only 1 PC has the plug-in, and I use the FlashBlock add-on with Firefox to ensure they don't start unless I click on them myself).

It is true there may be a copyright issue, but I get the impression that TV companies, even BBC Worldwide, are thinking of these clips as viral marketing and 'any publicity is good publicity'.

However, if using it for teaching, there is a big risk as it might be seen as condoning piracy and a student could cite it as 'an example they were following' if ever they were in trouble for piracy... leading to trouble for OP's employer, and OP too.

"various movie files from websites" should read

"movie files from various websites"

The add-ons give a list of sites, the movies as all .SWF files.
