I have a picture of a rug and I want to eliminate one of the motifs, like just rub it out with the eraser tool, but then how do I fill up the gap again, with the background colour? I know MN aint really the place to be askin', but..........................

you can use the clone stamp to clone another part of the rug

or open the rug picture and insert a new layer underneath the layer that has the rug on. When you erase from the rug layer, the layer beneath will show instead.

Mumof you're a pal. I don't reeeeelly understand off the top of my head but I'm going to hover over all the tools and find the clone stamp. But if any other merciful soul wants to chip in please feel free...........
