Do you mean that you currently have two domains, the new one that you wish to update and another domain which has your current website?

What exactly are you having trouble with? Is it the details you need to specify (eg Hostname, Username, Password, Port) or are you getting error messages?

Are you using Mac or Windows?

what are you using to connect with ftp (which means file transfer protocol by the way).

Did you get any instructions as to which site you need to connect to (eg ftp.domain.co.uk), and which userid and password to use ?

It should just be a matter of pointing the ftp client (there are lots of free ones you can download) at the right server and logging in with the right details.

example with my files - my website is www.highfields1.plus.com and I have to ftp the pages to ftp.plus.net and log in with my plusnet account id and password, and put the files in the folder httpdocs (or sub folders in there as appropriate).

You can do this with clients like filezilla, winscp, smartftp etc.

You probably have to set the nameservers at your domain host to point to your web host too.
Your domain host should have a help page that tells you how to do that, and your web host will have sent you an email telling you what settings to use.

As throckenholt says, you need a program called an 'FTP client' to upload files from your computer. (How have you created these files? Many web site creating/editing packages have an FTP client built in). Again the settings for the FTP client should be in the web host's email.

Since the release of Filezilla there is no point looking anywhere else for an FTP client IMHO.

Like Mranchovy says, have you changed your nameservers? This takes anywhere upto 24 hours to take effect.
