Help! Website setup advice needed

I need to set up a website, and I've been recommended packages from Mr Site and 1&1

I've completely boggled my brain comparing them, and don't have a clue which to go for.

Does anyone have any experience with either of them (or anything else) and can point me in a direction?
I do need something simple, as I'm a bit computer illiterate , and currently very confused!
Thanks

Partly this depends on what the website will hold (for example, do you want it for a blog, or some hobby you enjoy, or as a business website, perhaps displaying products, promoting some service, or selling goods), and whether you want to use some website design s/w on the service (like MrSite) or a webpage design app on your own machine ?

There have been other threads in the last year within the Geeky Stuff section about creating websites, which might already have some answers... and giving pros and cons of things like MrSite (I noticed it may go into search engines, so that instead of www.yourdomain.com being shown, your site might be found as www.yoursite.mrsite.com which could be a disadvantage long term if you move from MrSite - and the design might be quite stable after 6 months, but one goes on paying MrSite for the flexibility to be able to change it, so could be paying over the odds in some cases)

www.simplewebhosting.co.uk/web-hosting/ throws in Serif's WebPlus X2 software and seems pretty good value.

Maybe you're all sorted by now, but if not - I work as a web designer, creating and setting up websites. If you're interested, give me a shout.
