I've finally added myself to facebook. I can find some of my friends, but some i can't find. I know they are on it, but if I search for them it doesn't find them. I've tried putting our home town in the criteria but it still doesnt find them. Help!

People might be unsearchable. If you are in contact with them ask them to add you, or go through friends of friends.

search by email address?

liamsdaddy · 15/01/2010 12:57

email address works best.

Some people (like me) make ourselves difficult to search - it cuts down on random friend requests and malicious stuff.

I recommend a fairly private profile. You will get weird emails, spam, porn and people randomly befriending you because you have the same (or similar) names.

I've put privacy settings on myself, so will they be able to find me? I haven't got their email addresses.

They might have difficulties finding you - my nephew certainly had trouble finding me.

Make certain your FB first name is what people normally call you. e.g. If everyone calls you Kate, don't put yourself in as Katherine.
Surname should be OK unless they know you by a maiden name. Some people default to putting maiden name as a middle name if they are recently married.
Set your location, although FB can be a bit wooly on location in the UK.
If they are School or Uni friends add that info and make it searchable.
Add a photo of yourself that is recognisable.
Make everything else private.
If they can't find you then it isn't really your fault!

Making the photo a head shot only can help.
