I have used Itunes with no problem for a while UNTIL now!!

I have the itunes icon as desk top. Recently the picture changed from the picture of a cd with the music note on it to a symbol representing a web page. Clicked on and it said item needed to be installed. No idea why. I went into 'my computer', programmes and did a repair. Now I have two symbols on desk top. One of the web page picture and the other of the classic itunes symbol.

I click on the cd/mucic symbol and it opens up. Next time I go on that symbol has turned to a 'web page' symbol and the other iconhas turned into the cd/music sign. However sometimes both symbols look like a web page and I have to re-install.

Any ideas why and what I can do?

we have just had the same problem. Have you got windows 7. we have just changed from XP to windows 7. DS2 thought he had installed itunes, went back in to find it and it wasnt there and he couldnt download it. Took my computer to a 'good friend' who is a computer doc and he managed to install it,but it took ages. It wasnt in the music file where the computer said it should be.took him 2 hours to sort out

We are on XP. Nothing has changed recently. We haven't put any new programmes on or anything!! It's just decided to have a 'light do'!

I've just tried it again before I responded to you.

I clicked on the icon that is currently showing the cd/music symbol. That immediately turns into the web page symbol. I sit and wait for about 2 mins before the Itunes opens up. So maddening!

Thanks for replying.

i reckon windows have done something to stop itunes from being as accessible as they want you to use windows media player

Can you try using Windows Explorer to run iTunes directly?

You should be able to find iTunes.exe in a folder under C:\Program Files

There might be one called iTunes or Apple to look in.

Thanks. I'll try these suggestions when I get home from work. It's abit out of my comfort zone but I'll play about and see what happens.
