Mmmm I like White noise for putting DS to sleep. Ocado for shopping. Facebook... Quite a dull selection!

Alarmbellsring · 13/12/2009 18:50

Not just me then!! Its great - I can keep up to date especially as I hardly go on the computer nowadays as I have a 10 week DS to look after...

jooseyfruit · 13/12/2009 19:34

I like more toast and more pizza.

giddyupRudolph · 13/12/2009 19:39

Red laser is very useful - scan in a bar code, it will search on line to find you the cheapest price. Used it yesterday in HMV, found a DVD I wanted for £6, the app told me I could get it for £3.25 online, so I didn't bother.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 13/12/2009 19:51

I love Shazam - point it at the radio/whatever and it tells you the name of the song!

LowLevelBahHumbug · 13/12/2009 19:54

I like Boggle, Ocado and the pre-schooler games that keep my two year old occupied for hours if need be (e.g. in restaurants, waiting rooms etc).

BananaPudding · 13/12/2009 19:59

I love iFarm, Facebook, Shazaam, Zynga Poker, BigOven...but I love iFarm the most

BananaPudding · 13/12/2009 20:04

I can't believe I forgot Pandora and Words With Friends! It's scrabble for iPhone

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 14/12/2009 10:10

I've just got Labyrinth for mine. It's fab - a little ball bearing to guide round assorted wooden mazes

RustyBear · 14/12/2009 10:19

National rail, Tioti TV, wurdle, Stone loops, Solebon card games & the Keeper password store are my 'most used' apps

Igglybuff · 14/12/2009 19:26

Rusty - I refuse to use national rail as they stopped the freebie one which I hear was much better. £4.99 for an app! (Unless it's cheaper now?)

ClaireDeLoon · 14/12/2009 19:31

doodlejump

Igglybuff · 14/12/2009 19:40

I've just seen that the Guardian have launched a new app so will be checking that out now!

MattBellamysMuse · 14/12/2009 19:45

LineUp is the most addictive game ever. And it's free.

My DSs love Sneezies, a really sweet game.

Flixster movie app is good. It finds cinemas in your location and you can instantly find out what's on, times, reviews etc.

Convert Units is very useful and easy to us for those of us who aren't great at converting imperial into metric and vice versa.

RustyBear · 14/12/2009 20:11

Iggly - no, it's stil £4.99, which is relatively expensive for an app, but by no means the most expensive I've seen - and for the use I get out of it it's very good value.
I know there was a lot of outrage at the withdrawal of permission for the free app, but tbh, they're not obliged to allow anyone else to use their data & if they hadn't allowed it in the first place (which a lot of companies in their position wouldn't) then nobody would have said anything.

singleWhiteMale · 14/12/2009 23:04

Iggly - try TheTrainline. It's free.

RustyBear · 14/12/2009 23:12

I haven't tried the iphone trainline app, but if it's the same as the one I have on my igoogle page, it's a bit annoying because you have to keep putting the details in every time - with the National rail one, I set my home station & can get a list of all the departures straight away & can see if they are going to be late etc. It's really useful when DH or one of the DC are on their way home, if I leave home to pick them up when the train is two stops away I get there just in time. And when I'm out I can see my next train home with just one touch.

Igglybuff · 15/12/2009 19:50

single I will check it out thanks. Rusty I'd possibly use the national rail one if it was as good as the free one but I don't think it is from reviews? Which is a shame.

I really like the apps designed by The Useful Group. They have some fantastic animal interactive flash cards - in various languages, perfect for my bilingual family (Animal A-Z cards) and also a moo box farm which my toddler girl of age 2 really loves, though my 5 year old is into it too (the app is called Moo Box Farm). I find that having a few simple and clever apps is a really useful thing to have as those hard moments ( a traffic jam, or waiting to see the gp)-those moments when kids need a bit of distraction.

Emmaharvey · 23/07/2010 07:43

I have recently been playing with ParentHelper www.adgot.co.uk on the iPhone to try and remind me how to manually do multiplication and long division to help my eldest with her homework and learning maths.
