Cool memory stick / flash drive - recommendations?

I want to get my nephew a cool memory stick for Christmas - you know, one shaped like something else (chili pepper, lego brick etc). The only decent selection I can find are from slightly dodgy looking online traders in Hong Kong.

Does anyone know of any UK sellers that specialise in this sort of thing?

All suggestions gratefully received!

They have novelty memory sticks in John Lewis, including a Lego one.

Wow - super fast response CertainAge!
Just took a look at the John Lewis site - those Lego sticks look lovely but are rather more than I was hoping to spend.

Any other ideas anyone?

The price for those brick ones seems to be matched elsewhere (firebox.com for example).
(The Design Museum had them at 50 quid, but perhaps larger amount of RAM!)

Saw some other 'cute' ideas at gadgets.fosfor.se/the-top-10-weirdest-usb-drives-ever/
but not hunted down individual items on sale in UK.

If you find that "thumb" drive somewhere, please post a link back on this thread!

Just been back to Firebox and they have a 15 quid "penguin" 2GB USB stick - www.firebox.com/product/2516/Penguin-USB-Flash-Drives?via=ser

Spotted a slightly different thing - a pair of AA batteries for under 13 quid, that go in the USB socket for recharging - could perhaps get some 'non cool' USB stick for under 10 quid with double the storage and some 'fun' item off Firebox...

Not cheap (so not exactly what you're after) but worth pointing out in case anyone else is interested PRETTY AND OH SO SPARKLY

WebDude · 01/12/2009 16:49

sorry serenity - came up with a search page

serenity · 01/12/2009 16:53

Damn.

OK this? Although they're mixed in with a couple of other bits this way.

Loads on Amazon

WebDude · 02/12/2009 02:23

serenity - yes, some pretty items there, but not perhaps for a nephew

Yes, some items worth checking on Amazon. Had not looked there earlier. It might still be worth taking a chance on Ebay, even if items are from HK/ China. I've had optical mice and other odds and ends without problems, just check the satisfaction rating as being high (and if not over 99.5% then check feedback comments).

Saw a few cute 2 GB sticks at 12.99 and then a couple of 4 GB sticks at 9.99 (but get in fast if it's for 25/12 as there are a few comments about delay - I think I'd risk it to get more memory pound for pound - see stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/showubest88 )

Yes there are a few 'neutral' and a couple of negative marks, but unless the post is delayed then any one of the guitar, jumbo, or (American) football might be OK for OP's nephew.

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice. Love the sparkly ones!

I went away and had another search and found a good selection on www.play.com

Oh oh and Webdude - I saw that thumb one when I was looking. Really wanted to buy it but is beyond my budget for nephew. Here it is:

Thanks grendel and well spotted.

Yes, that's far higher than my 'idle curiosity' budget too, esp when 4GB storage is under a tenner from that Ebay guy (hard to beat that price even with the discount online shops one can visit, unless someone knows different!).

Think I'd go for the 'classic' electric guitar or the pencil, jumbo, or chilli pepper (they are all still listed at 9.99 inc delivery!
