Netbook has no disk drive. How do I load office?

I'm sure this is probably an easy question, but I'm not technologically minded.

I have a lovely new netbook, but it doesn't have the Office package (Word, Powerpoint etc). If I were to buy this from Amazon, it comes on a CD rom. I only have USB ports, so how do I load the package?

Thank you

PS I already have the full Office suite on a laptop - is there any way of copying over?

You may be able to download it? Or buy a USB CD drive (if they exist).

I think the usual thing is to buy a small separate CD/DVD drive which you can plug in. But do make sure your netbook will have enough space and power to run Office, some of the cheaper mini PCs aren't really up to it.

I knew there would be an easy answer! Thanks, both of you.

There's definitely enough space for it - it's got more memory than the ancient laptop.

Open Office One is free and downloadable and suitable (as far as I can see ) for notebooks.

My brother has just bought a new notebook with open office on it, although his runs on Linux not windows this webpage here says it's suitable for windows too.

There is alot of information on the openoffice.org site.Although it looks like openoffice 1 is the best for netbooks.

hope that helps

Thanks, but I foolishly signed up to do the ECDL, and all the books and exercises are based on the Microsoft Office suite, I think.

I'll email my tutor to check, because that open office looks great.
