Is there a shortcut to paste a formula for example ctrl c copies, ctrl v pastes. Is there a similar ctrl and ?? key for pasting formula only??

ta.

If you are only pasting the formula, you need to use Paste Special. I don't think there is a shortcut.

You could drag - hold your mouse over corner of the cell until you get a little x and then drag.

Remember all references are relative unless you make them absolute.

Yes, it's paste special. So ctrl C to copy your cell and then right click when you are over the destination cell and you get a little pop up menu. One of those is paste special. Select that and then one of the options is formula.

Ah ta for that, I have been using the right click but wondered if there was a quicker way.

Thanks very much for replying both of you!

The keyboard shortcut for paste special is Ctrl-E-S-F (ie hold down control and press and release E, S and F in that order).

This may not sound like a shortcut, but if it means you don't have to take your hands away from the keyboard, it can make a big difference!

All the menu items in Microsoft (and most other) applications have keyboard shortcuts for accessibility reasons; they are shown next to the entry in the menu.
