We have a projector at church which is used to connect to the laptop to show stuff on the (equally fancy) screen. Last night my friend and I couldn't get it to show stuff - it kept saying no connection shown on RGB1 (or something like that).

I was supposed to ring someone last night after I got home who would be able to tell me what to do on the laptop to make it recognise the projector - but I totally forgot as DS3 wouldn't go to sleep. Also didn't manage to ring him this morning either - and he's at work now and I have no way of contactig him.

I need to have it set up by 2.30 this afternoon and now I'm panicking.

I'm sure last time we had problems he told me to go somewhere in the control panel......but I'm not sure..........

On most laptops you have to press the Function key (Fn) and F5, but on a few it may be Fn -F7 or something else - look at the row of F keys at the top of the keyboard & there should be one that has a little picture of two monitors.

However, on some of the new laptops we've been getting at school, we've found that Fn-F5 doesn't necessarily work - first you have to right click on the desk top & choose Graphics options. If you are currently connected to a projector, you'll get a menu which includes 'Output to' The next bit depends on what graphics card you have, on my Toshiba it says 'Intel Dual Display Clone & you can then choose 'Notebook & Monitor' You may then also have use the Fn key,or it may come up stright away

(You won't normally get this option unless you are actually connected to a second display)

thanks Rusty - should be able to get it going with that information

Something else has occurred to me - if there is more than one input to the projector, you may have been connected to RGB2 - try pressing the RGB button on the remote to toggle between them

You can also set up the dual display settings in the control panel (presumabmly this is what your friend meant) - look for an icon which, when you hover your mouse over it says something like 'Control the graphics hardware features' - it will probably have the name of your graphics card - mine is Intel. If you can't find the icon, try changing the control panel to 'Classic View' - look on the left hand side to do this.

But again, you probably won't be able to change anything till you are actually connected, so it would be best to allow a few minutes before hand to set it up.

thanks - need to go across early anyhow as I've got to get the rest of the other stuff set up.

Last time this happened to me, I just pressed the RGB button on the projector remote control.
