I now have excel 2003

Before I could change the underlying colour of an excel cell

Not just changing the background

Does anyone know how I do this now?

You can change an individual cell colour by clicking the Fill icon (looks like a paint tin, usually next to the text colour A icon).

SoupDragon · 06/11/2008 12:40

Agree with Mabel. Or if the paint can isn't there, right click the cell, choose "cell properties" and then chance the fill from there.

stealthsquiggle · 06/11/2008 12:44

right click on cell(s) - format cells - choose properties tab - select colour

KatyMac · 06/11/2008 12:44

When you open the box & get all the colour choices You could change the colour of each individual colour so red could be changed to blue....I think

on the menu it is Format > Cells > Patterns and then you just select the colour you want.

Kevlarhead · 06/11/2008 22:35

You'd like to create a new colour not found in the standard Excel palette?

KatyMac · 07/11/2008 10:52

No I made a way round it but it was to change the colour on the colour square on the format page

I think it is way to complicated to explain

I'm not sure any of us understood exactly what you wanted to do

The colour palette I think - but I found a way round it - so it doesn't matter anymore (it was for the timetable Lapin)

oops - it is 2007 that is why I am struggling

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 07/11/2008 11:12

2007 is like a foreign language to me I'd got myself to vaguely competant with my old version (having been an expert at theL otus equivalent).

KatyMac · 07/11/2008 12:10

It is very odd - I am very confused

OP posts:
Kevlarhead · 10/11/2008 00:32

I'd assumed you were still using 2003, and was twisting my brain trying to remember how it all worked before MS got the decorators in...
