Need help to link streamium music system to PC through wireless router

Bought a phillips WACS7000 music system and have tried to link it up to my PC but have had no luck.

I have a belkin wireless router, my ISP is Virgin and I have no idea how to link the music system to the PC.

I am willing to do it with the cables if I can't figure out the wireless way, but I just don't know which cables to use, can't figure it out!

At the moment, I think the modem is in the router, and the router in the PC. So, if I am going to use the wires, how do I do that?! Should I completely remove the router and just use the modem directly? Its driving me mad, have been trying for a few days now but just can't do it!

I can't help much with this, but as far as I know you want the music system to connect to the router in much the same way as a 2nd computer would.

The modem connects to the internet via the phone line and the router acts like a switchboard for computers and other things to connect to it and each other.

In your case the modem and router are all in one yes? so the router/modem plugs into the phone line and it has a wireless aerial on it and say 4 sockets for wired connections to computers and such.

I would start by using wired because it's easier and once you get something working you can try it without wires.

So I'd plug the music system into the router and the PC into the router

Do you know how to get to the routers internal pages to view/change settings? if so you will hopefully see the music system listed as connected.

You 'may' have a CD that came with it with software to install on the PC to control the music system over your network

I had a modem but when I got a laptop, I bought a router and added that so my laptop works wirelessly.

I think the phoneline plugs into the modem, another cable links the modem to the router. The router is connected to the PC. The laptop is linked up by using a 128 bit WEP code.

I have tried adding the music system by keying in the WEP code which is several digits long. I got the code by logging into the router webpage by typing in some IP address (192. etc) into the address bar at the top of the page.
All that manages to do is lose the station and the system link (the station is the extra set we got with the system to play the music in another room)

It is a really good buy, we paid £170 for it. The cheapest it is available elsewhere is £320

Okay, I can picture now how you have things set up and giving it the WEP code seems reasonable. Or it would if it worked

I found the manual online, but it's huge (not the quickstart guide). A lot of reading there, but it will have the bits you need in there somewhere.

Right click the link and select 'Save Target As' to save a copy to your drive.

Oh and there are some tutorials here. I don't know if they are useful or not.

Thank you onager, I have saved the manual and will have a read of it after the kids have gone to bed.
I have spent hours trying to figure it out so I am very happy to let someone direct me!

Will also have a look at the tutorials, with a bit of luck, we will get it working eventually
