Firstly i am a bit of a neanderthal, so tech is not my forte. I watched an interview for the new TV show Rivals ...on Disney plus which I dont subscribe to. I do subscribe to Netflix though. Just wondering do I have to subscribe to every channel now for evry programme i would like to see or is there a global way of accessing them ? ...and this is where I might be showing my ignorance...like a firestick or googlechrome ???

In order to see a programme on a specific streaming service you need to have a subscription to that streaming service.

For example if you want to watch "Ted Lasso" you have to subscribe to Apple TV, as it is not available anywhere else at the moment.

However, occasional some series / movies do appear on multiple services.

If you only want to watch one thing you can subscribe just for one month. Or quite often they will do free trials

Thanks for this...I looked at the prices of individual streaming services snd figured it couldn't be that you had to sign up for every service but it seems you would need to. I had heard of firesticks and thought that was the way to go. But not.

A firestick is just a little computer you can run the apps on for streaming services - it comes with Amazon Prime Video installed because it’s made by Amazon, but you can also install the other streamers’ apps on it too. But you still need to subscribe to each in order to be able to watch their content. So the fire stick is a bit of hardware that plugs into your tele. If you have a smart tv, you can install the apps directly onto it without needing a fire stick or other bit of hardware. We get the same thing with our Sky TV puck - all the apps are installed on that. We choose which streamers we subscribe to, and swap round regularly to have a go at each of them.

Yup, you have to sign up for each one that you want and it really adds up. The pushback against this is why the ‘streaming bubble’ is bursting.

Fire sticks are great if you don't have a smart TV with pre loaded apps. You plug the stick into the back of your TV, they have dozens of channel apps pre-loaded.

you can sign up/subscribe to whatever pay-for channels you want and unsubscribe when you're finished the series. Usually its a minimum one month subscription.

We had Amazon fire sticks for years, no problem with them.
