Wireless over ear headphones for a teenager

I'm hoping for some help. DD, who is typically not acquisitive and never asks for anything, thinks she might want headphones for birthday and/or Christmas.

Comfort is a thing (sensory), not blastingly loud, cool if possible Grin and she's ummmmmm a bit clumsy so durable would be nice. Anywhere from 50-150 quid ish. Could go higher or lower for anything good and if we combine the two events.

Thanks in advance!

Both my boys are gamers (19 and 24) I'll text them later (I'm on holidays at the moment) and see if they've any suggestions, they've been through a fair few pairs between them over the years!

LozzaChops101 · 13/09/2024 04:53

Audio Technica m50x are really really good sound-wise, but I wouldn’t know if they’re cool! I know there are various colour options, and you can buy skins for them if you want to.

About the sensory issues…will she mind hot ears with the over ears? I’ve ended up owning some on-ear, some over-ear and some in-ear because I get irritated with all of them one way or another so have to rotate!

Thanks @Holidays78

@LozzaChops101 she doesn't mind hot. Anything uncomfortable is the enemy. Pain, hot, cold, all good. Slight discomfort is dreadful!

I've just bought my DD some Beats Solo 4's wireless headphones off Amazon for her birthday, the blue pair are reduced to £156 at the moment. She has had a pair before and said they are the comfiest ear cups she has ever used, and she was gutted when the last pair got damaged and stopped working. Might be worth a look at especially with the money off at the mo.

TeenToTwenties · 13/09/2024 06:37

My DD bought herself some from ASDA for I think around £25. She tends to be sensory sensitive and is very happy with them. She isn't worried about whether things are on trend however.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 13/09/2024 09:46

Does she wear earrings? I struggle with over ear because they tend to push the stems into my skin.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 13/09/2024 09:58

I love my Beats, I got them in a deal on Amazon 60% off, don't know if it's still available.

I've got Soundcore Q30s which are very comfortable with great active noise cancelling. They're around £70 and they do have higher spec ones. They even have an app where you can adjust for indoor, outdoor or travelling. You can switch between active noise cancelling, normal or transparency just by touching the outer right rear one. I really like them. They're on Amazon.

MrsTerryPratchett · 13/09/2024 14:18

I read something that said Beats were uncomfy but if they aren't, that's good.

No earrings, but she does wear glasses.

These Sonys are noise cancelling and really solid value. Not cool but not uncool.

Thanks!

The cool thing is me not DD. She's ended up at a secondary school with posh kids accidentally (weird catchment boundary thing). The kind of state school people try to buy houses near. I just don't want to inadvertently affect her coolness! DD however, is solidly alternative and couldn't care less. Making her ice cold Grin

Anna Kendrick in Pitch Perfect is her aim. Oooo I should see what headphones she favours.

My Beats are really comfy and also fold up into a smaller case
