Due to CoL I've cancelled my sky TV subscription.
What do I need for free live TV?
I'm thinking free-view box?
I've not got TV Ariel but do have broadband
Thanks

If you've got a smart TV then you can connect it to your wifi and typically get BBC iPlayer, Channel 4, ITV and so on for free as well as allow you to use paid-for services like NetFlix, AppleTV etc.

If your TV isn't smart but does at least have an HDMI connector then you can get a device that plugs in to your TV and turns it into a smart TV. Google Chromecast, Amazon Firestick, Roku Express, Apple Homepod Mini etc can all do this. Amazon has a bunch of non-brand name options as well - search for "media streaming devices" - but I don't know enough about those to know if they're any good.

Do remember that if you're streaming live TV on any channel, and/or watching pre-recorded content on BBC iPlayer, then you'll need a TV license.

Thanks @HowardTJMoon

I'm thinking of something where you've got all the regular channels live ie bbc, itv, channel 5 and I think a few more
I feel a bit disconnected with just streaming

That's what the media streamer devices can do - they'll let you stream BBC etc live to your TV via your broadband. They can do Netflix and so on as well if you want, but you don't have to.

Your other choice is a conventional freeview box but for that you'll need an aerial. Depending on your location and the construction of your house that might be an indoor aerial or you might need one on your roof.

Can you get TV guide somehow? A list of things on now?

I was in the same boat not too long ago - we cancelled Sky to cut costs with everything going up, besides the kids were turning into telly addicts. If you've got boradband but no aerial, you've still got options. A freeview box requires a digital areila, but if you're looking for TV without one, you can use a Firestick or Roku. I also use freetvz.com which lets you watch loads of channels for free without ads, it's been a lifesaver for us when on holiday.

I cancelled sky as the price was getting so expensive, usually I call them and they reduce the price but they wouldn't budge this year.

I don't have a tv aerial but bought a Roku stick from Argos. It's been great and would definitely recommend. I got this one as there is a volume button on the remote, some don't have the volume button so you will need to use the tv remote for this. The Roku app is very good and also gives you the option to use the remote via the app.

If you still have your satellite dish, you can get freesat boxes that can use that. My parents have one, as they cancelled Sky as they weren't watching half of the channels.

They got their box from Currys.
