MORE HELP! Where can I get data recovered from corrupted Compact Flash Cards?

A couple of weeks my laptop developed an error, so we carefully backed up all the data, emails and photos onto Compact Flash cards using a hard disk recorder. Now the computers been wiped and works fine, but the CF cards are unreadable in the original machine, camera or anything. So I have lost three years of photos, only partly backed up, and all my emails from ever!

PhotoRescue software doesn't find anything on the cards.

Does anyone know of a service where I can send the cards to have the best shot at getting the data off them? Will it cost a fortune, is it likely to work? Any ideas?

have you tried going on sandisk website and getting rescue pro off there? It worked on ours, when the problem seemed hideous.
don't know of anywhere to send them, sorry.
hope you find something that works.

errrr, not quite, I think there's a free version

if the PC copied the data is a corrupted format onto the flash then you are a little out of luck

Try the Sandisk software.. this is designed to recover this type of data.. but if this does not work then options are very limited

If you can't see any data, try Recuva - it's very useful, and may be just the thing you need.

If you can actually see the data, but it says it's corrupted, try recuva, but if it's corrupted you might be out of luck

Phew! It was a false alarm, as it happens. After a very scary 48 hours, we went out and bought a USB flash card reader, which read and released the data perfectly.

I think the problem was the digital camera and hard disk recorder are too specialised and were trying to file the data in their own directory structure, and had got confused when we took the cards out of one and into another.

Thanks for the help though.

this was also the cause of the biggest marital row for several years!!!

glad to hear Granny hadn't lost her pics after all.
Now will you please go and back them up (preferably twice) and then give your DH a big snog because of course you forgive him. It is always the bloke's fault, and we always decide to forgive them
