....how can we I sort it out?

I seem to remember when we got it there was a CD to install something to do with wirelessness with but have no idea where this is.

When you go into network connections and try clicking on wireless it tries to do things but then can't. I know the router is fine as we can connect with this laptop.

Do we need a thing like this or is there any other way?

(DH has promised not to fiddle around with things he blatently doesn't understand in the future )

are you sure he didn't just press the button?

i did this - turns out there's a disable/able wireless connectivity switch - look for something labelled WLAN

My dd1 did this to mine - it turned out it was a switch that looks like a tomahawk (the Red Indian weapon) right next to the open button that had been turned off. Very easy to do, as they are so close together. Just have a look round the laptop for the switch...

You can also try going to network connections, click on the wireless you want, click on advanced settings, click on middle tab (can't remember what it's called) click on "use windows to configure wireless" or somesuch.

My laptop sometimes forgets to use right tool to connect and then I have to go through this rigmarole.

I will try these possibilities when I am at home . It is very possible he pressed a button without intendsing to (this laptop has a sliding switch which I slid and then phoned up the work IT dept to be giggled at ).

I think I tried what mellowma suggested and it tried, but then got stuck.

Yes the sliding switch on my Toshiba is right next door to the wireless switch - hence dd1 turning it off.

Ubergeekian · 23/01/2008 20:33

Does it pop up that little "One or more wireless networks is available. Click here to see them" box?

IdrisTheDragon · 23/01/2008 21:05

I have sorted it out. DH was very impressed .

He had pressed Fn and F2 (which has the tomahawk on ). I pressed them again and voila .

Thank you for all suggestions and help .
