Not a union as such but something along lines of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors for surveyors or National Union of Farmers for farmers (duh).

There is the British Computer Society, although a lot of people don't belong to it.

Someone who goes into companies to help them decide on what new technology they need and helps to implement it.

So you do RFI/ITT stuff with them and then you are a Project Manager or a BA or something?

lalalonglegs · 23/01/2008 11:39

No, I'm not anything in IT, hence my ignorance. Trying to find out for a company I work for that needs this sort of service but wants to know if there is an organisation that gives some minimum standards etc, can advise on costs. My googling skills would stop anyone employing me in this sector, hence plea to all-knowing MNers.

Ahhh I see!

Is it for a finance system?

CountessDracula · 23/01/2008 11:43

if so this sort of company would be what you need

Or go to an independent consultant (like me!) Cheaper usually and more flexible. I am doing just this at the moment for a client

CountessDracula · 23/01/2008 11:46

another here

lalalonglegs · 23/01/2008 12:12

Actually it's an editorial system for a small publishing company. Knew I shouldn't have got involved, this all looks fiendishly difficult.

ok it isn't fiendishly difficult but it helps if you have some systems selection/implementation experience

email me countessdrac at gmail dot com and I will endeavour to help - it is too lengthy to write here so give me your no and I will call you if you like
