I am studying graphic design. I would prefer a mac book but have been told you get less for your money. Even so more convenient for my lifestyle. I can push to 700 pounds but would rather not. Any help would be a godsend as i cannot work on my turquoise i mac any longer and it won't even install cs 2 . Thankyov.

get the macbook

still you wont be able to install a printer

get a pc laptop with Adobe Indesign instead of Quark (its better anwyay )

i mean the macbook is 699 so you wont be able to afford a printer

john lewis is a good palce to get it from (free deliv and 2 yr guarantee)

I have a printer. Do i need a special 8 thousand pound mac book one. Please say no. Never thought of john lewis. Presumed they wouldn't do them. I'm not allowed to learn quark. My teacher won't let me . So i will never be a proper respected old school designer.

Don't buy anything until after the 15th. Apple will be releasing some new products next week, and it's possible that there will be a new version of the macbook announced on Tuesday. Might not happen, but best to wait a couple of days and see what gets announced.

Your existing printer should be fine. Macs do not require special printers.

If you know of anyone going to the US in the near future, you could save up to 135 pounds if you can have them buy it there and smuggle it back. Since it's a laptop, it's easy enough to unbox it and carry it on to the plane.

Not sure where you are studying graphic design, but you might also check to see if you qualify for apple's education discount (either via your institution or by virtue of being a registered student at an educational institution). Would save 40 quid or so off the macbook price if you qualify.
