Only 3 years old - Lenovo. Just won’t start. Is it worth paying to get it repaired or do laptops just not last longer than this?

The normal lifespan is about 5 years. Are you sure it's not the power cable that has failed? You can buy a replacement and test it.

Take it to an independent repairers, not somewhere like PC World!
My laptop got a new lease of life for £50 several years ago!

Power cable was fine - I use it every day and it was charged . It wouldn’t restart after an update - just dead. No blue screen wobbles beforehand.

Definitely get a price to repair. My DH is a computer technician, he never charges to diagnose. He gets laptops in that are ten years old and still going strong sometimes.

Thanks - there is an Indy up the road so I’ll try them.

Is it one with a removable battery?

Try unplugging it from the power, removing the battery (if possible) holding the power button for 30 seconds, then letting go, reassembling and trying to switch it on again.

Also, does the power / charging light come on when the power cord is plugged in?

Ooh - it has powered up. I don’t know why it worked this time. But it’s doing it’s circle of doom thing. I’m leaving it to ponder its laptop existence for a while.

You need to take the laptop for diagnostics to find out the cause of the breakdown. If your breakdown is related to the battery or power supply, then this is easy to fix. If there are problems with the hard disk, then you can restore the data using Partition Recovery and replace it. If the problem is with the motherboard, then you'd better buy a new laptop and sell this one for parts.
