Instagram ". . . took a photo of you"

Recently I have been getting notifications on Instagram that so and so "has taken a photo of you" - the profile pictures are always a girl in a bikini/underwear.

Does anyone know what this means, and how could they have taken a photo of me? I find it a bit disconcerting.

Usually that notification is when someone tags you in a post, originally intended for if the post is actually of you.

Lately I've found spammy accounts doing it to try and get you to look at/like their posts even if it's completely irrelevant to you - if you go to the post that's supposedly of you and tap the "see tags" button in the bottom left corner (looks like a person icon) you'll probably find tens or hundreds of people tagged in the same post :)

You can safely block and ignore!

Oh, thank you so much for that, I have felt a bit worried about it all for some reason but now I will safely ignore.

It's always a bit alarming! But this is just another spam tactic, sadly x
