Hi, need to buy a tablet for 75yr old. Primarily to access the internet for news etc, but possibly also for games like scrabble and also tv?
I'm going to have to provide "support" and I have no Apple knowledge so its got to be android.
I'm thinking large screen size but beyond that fairly clueless.
Any suggestions? Or things/ makes to you avoid? Budget flexible and would rather spend a bit more if out will make a big difference.

O.k., so having read all the reviews the iPad is coming out top . . . I know nothing about them - are they really intuitive or am I going to struggle?
Any help welcome please?

I have had an ipad for many years, so to me they are intuitive. They open using a fingerprint and/or a number so shaky finger should be ok by the way. I would go to a shop selling them and ask to see them being used, all such shops are usually happy to explain and demonstrate them. It is always best to learn how to use them yourself before handing them over, the blind leading the blind is never a good idea lol. Android pads are similar I am told, so look at them at a shop too. Shops want to sell, so while dont be bullied, use them to see which you think would be best.

Good Luck

Ahh well in that case the best I can advise if to go to youtube and ask for ipad for beginners, and look at them.
This is an example:- . Many are made in the USA but this is an english vid and made recently.
Hope this helps

I successfully taught my GMIL, 75, how to use an iPad. I appreciate your gift recipient is older but my experience was it was quite intuitive and also very much a walled garden - it’s much harder to cock anything up because Apple locks stuff down so carefully, plus their apps are a lot more stringently checked - Android apps can have viruses in, I've not heard of Apple having the same.

When we bought hers WHSmith had an (expensive) magazine (about a tenner) called iPad for Seniors which was in the computer magazine section. She had that which made her feel reassured - when you open the box there’s literally a leaflet quick start guide and no more bumf, the rest of it is on the iPad. She barely looked at the magazine but she liked having it to refer to if need be.

Thank you, may be brave enough to go for it then.
