It cut out last week and told me to change the batteries.

Have only just got round to doing it now.

But it's doing nothing. Won't switch on now.

Don't whack me - are you sure the batteries are in correctly and that the pesky little hatch is completely closed?

SoupDragon · 14/06/2007 13:16

And the batteries are new ones?I@ve put dead ones back in before!

Marina · 14/06/2007 13:19

Thou sayest Soupy, I've done that too and will now own up

Ceolas · 14/06/2007 13:20

Hatch is closed. Batteries aren't completely new. Nicked them out the DVD remote, but they were working in there!

Hatch is shut.

Old batteries are recharging...

A remote isn't quite so powerhungry as a camera though, I think it willwork from less full batteries.

Ceolas · 14/06/2007 13:22

You'll gather I shut the hatch

You daftie, cameras need loads more welly than a passive little DVD remote! That camera has probably already had your second-hand batteries for tea and spat the bones out, electronically speaking. Guess how I know this...

Desiderata · 14/06/2007 13:24

Are the ones you've currently got in there rechargeable?

They have a shelf-life .. X amount of photo's and they expire ... so it could be that you need new rechargables?

Ceolas · 14/06/2007 13:24

So I need to wait for the others to charge?

[impatient emoticon]

BTW Marina, started a thread a little while ago looking for a knitting pattern. You don't happen to have the Mason Dixon baby kimono pattern?

But if I put the batteries back in the remote, it works fine...

your remote does not need 2.5mAmp batteries. your camera does!

SpacePuppy · 14/06/2007 13:28

you can even get a flashlight to work with dead camera batteries.

Ceolas · 14/06/2007 13:29

Spacepuppy they are just normal AA batteries...

SpacePuppy · 14/06/2007 13:34

Maybe not right for the camera then? If you've recharged them a while ago they might've lost some energy, they discharge even if they are not in use. We've had this happen to us a lot and eventually had 4 sets of batteries with us when we used ours. We now have a canon with a serious battery that lasts weeks!

SpacePuppy · 14/06/2007 13:37

Look on the side of the actual battery. in fine print is will say the following:

NH15-AA
1.2V - 1850mAh

these are suitable for everyday use, but don't last in cameras very long.

the following are suiable and lasts quite long

NH15-AA
1.2V 2500mAh

Hope this helps.

Ceolas · 14/06/2007 14:49

OK, twas the batteries

Don't know why it didn't like the remote ones...

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 14/06/2007 15:35

It didn't like them simply because there wasn't enough power in them to run the camera

Ceolas · 14/06/2007 15:36

I know. Just frustrated! And

bookwormmum · 14/06/2007 15:56
