iOS to Android - any regrets? Or never looked back?

I’ve had various iPhones over the years and I always thought I’d be an iOS devotee all my life, but I’m starting to think perhaps an Android device would be better, esp as my iPhone 6 begins its decline.

Has anyone made the transition and regretted it? Or wondered why they didn’t do it sooner? Words of caution or advice??

Thanks!

No advice but I am following with interest as I am also considering moving to Android.

I moved from iOS to Android. Hated it. Moved back to iOS in less than a week and never regretted the move back. I was never an Apple fan girl (I resisted iPhones for a long time - and still resist Macs) but I much prefer iPhones.

I have both an iPod Touch (which is pretty close to an iphone) and recently replaced my Galaxy s3 with the s8.
I much prefer the Android.

I wouldn't go back to iOS by choice and we were with Apple from iPhone 3 through 7. Why did we move over? Well we bought a Kindle Fire and were a little more than shocked over how good it was c/w experiences of earlier Android tablets. That just started a chain reaction. Much prefer the play store, much prefer the ability to add SD cards etc. Sure the newer iPhone models have a few nice bits but are they really worth several £100 more? I don't believe so.

I moved and hated it. I moved back within three months.

Personal phone is iOS, work phone is Android. Hate the Android so much that I use my own phone and tether it to the work phone to use their data.

I moved and regretted it almost instantly so went back to iPhone. Ive had macs and pcs too and much prefer mac.

Yes, i tunes is a pain and you pay a premium but it just works and for that you have to pay.

Id also consider the serious security issues with Android too if you store anything of sny importance on your phone.

I recently moved from IPhone to Android. I now have a Huawei p20 pro. I'm so glad I made the move and wish I had done it sooner! I don't think I will ever go back.

I have been to Android, hated it and went back iOS. I have had iPhones 4-8 and although not much changes between phones, the simple and clean Apple designs are what sway it for me. My friend also did similar, just bought her new iPhone today after 4 months with a galaxy S8!

I was never a huge iPhone lover or so I thought. I moved to a Samsung phone and hated it. Tried Huawei, hated it. Really regretted moving and have now gone back to iPhone.

FreiasBathtub · 28/07/2018 23:39

I moved from iPhone to OnePlus about 4 years ago and haven't looked back. Took a bit of getting used to for sure but became clear that with an iPhone I was paying an awful lot for stuff I didn't use, and wasn't getting enough of the stuff I did (esp. storage). Can't ever see myself going back.

Furrycushion · 28/07/2018 23:44

Yep, 5 of us in our family have made the move & would never go back.

I also have an Android work phone and an iPhone as my personal mobile. I hate the Samsung with a passion; I just use the office landline unless I'm out or working from home. The iOS system and layout is way more intuitive imho. Android may be more customisable but it's so much more fiddly- sometimes you can have too much choice.

That said I have a mate who's the opposite- she hated the iPhone when she had to borrow one when her Samsung broke and said she found it way harder to use.

I think it comes down to what you want to do with your phone. If you're happy with your use being limited to a portable device for internet access, casual gaming, music playback and photography then the iPhone is great provided you're happy with Apple deciding for you how things are done. If you use your phone as more of a fully fledged computer (the big one for me is the ability to manage my files) then Android is the way to go. The latter has the downside of you being forced to make some choices which you potentially might not understand without doing some background reading.

Personally, I have used iPhones occasionally for work and when helping people with technical issues but I would never own one because they simply don't meet my requirements.

In terms of the actual transition, most of the major Android manufacturers provide software to aid the transition (as does Apple for the reverse).
