Licenced Drone Operators

Hi all,

I'm selling my house and wanted to get some aerial shots of my property. My estate agent Mark, says he knows someone that can do it for me and it'll cost £200. Now that sounds good to me. But I asked about if the person had a drone license and insurance, as my after speaking to my neighbours they had concerns. And apparently, he's allowed to do it as a 'hobbyist' and doesn't require insurance.

Would you just do it? Find a legit operator?

Thanks,

Clive

Hi Clive,

I have just asked my BF about this as he is what is referred to as a licenced drone operator..
Because of regulations and laws that do control the use of drones for everyone apparently you should only use a CAA approved drone pilot. My BF said you, the estate agent and the one flying the drone could get into trouble with the Police if you don't use a certified professional. These are assessed for safety and insured.
He said you can look on the CAA website for a proper drone pilot but apparently the best list is via a map showing your local one and they're only allowed to be on the map once on the official list.
BF said it's free and he and loads of his colleagues are on it as they get work from it, my BF has proof read this to help make sure it's right, the best approved list is at approveddronepilots.co.uk
Good luck selling your house and let us know how it all goes Smile

Hope that helps,
Karen.

www.caa.co.uk/Consumers/Unmanned-aircraft/General-guidance/Drone-operators-with-a-valid-CAA-permission-for-commercial-work/

That describes the rules and specifically mentions film and photography.
