Does anyone know any good ones? DH and I live an exciting life and have been trying some brainteasers out on each other. I appear to have run out now but I want some really tricky ones to get him with tomorrow if anyone can help!

The one about the bloke eating the albatross soup is a bit heavy!

Here's a variation of a classic

There are four Easter bunnies (a, b, c and d) buried in a straight line up to their necks in sand by an evil hunter. The hunter plans on cooking and eating them all, but as it's Easter, he'll give them a chance to save themselves.

They are buried in the following manner:

A || B C D.

There is a brick wall between A and B. Both are facing the wall, and those two can see only wall.
C can see B.
D can see C and B.

He blindfolds them all and paints their ears with blue, or pink paint. He undoes their blindfolds and tells them that two of them are painted pink, and two blue. If one bunny can identify his own colour within 5 minutes, then they can all go free.

The bunnies are not allowed to speak with each other in any way. Which bunny gives the hunter an answer, and how can he be sure?

So, I found Romeo and Juliet lying dead on the kitchen floor surrounded by broken glass and water. When I heard a cat miaow, I realised how they died.

Psammead - one possibility is that B and C have the same colour, and D would quickly realise that he has the opposite colour and call that out.

If that doesn't happen, then we have to make some assumptions about the logical reasoning skills of bunny C (and his knowledge of D's ability to reason logically).

Easter bunnies are famous for their impeccable logical reasoning skills. No guesswork is involved.

Yeah, but I thought the Easter bunny was famous for being unique, but now you're telling me there are four of them, so I'm just questioning everything now.

Well, since leaving the UK I have discovered many Father Christmasses. In our house we know that Father Christmas, Santa, Weihnachtsmann and Nicholas are all brothers and neighbours. As are the Easter Bunny, Oster Hase etc.

If B and C are the same colour D knows he's the other colour and says so.

If D doesn't speak then C knows that he and B are different colours. He then states that his ears are whatever colour B's are not.

An electric train leaves London heading for Edinburgh.

At the half way point the wind is blowing south easterly and the train is travelling due north at 100km per hour.

I think screaming is a pretty reasonable reaction to falling out of a window.
