tell me about your broadband provider

I am currently with Plusnet (not fibre) unlimited, plus a phone line. It's just gone up to £30 p/m

I want to switch to a provider who's reasonably priced, and service has to be consistent - I work from home a lot so needs to be good and also unlimited (I also stream everything).

So if you can tell me if you are happy with your provider, how much each month (incl. line rental) I would really appreciate it. I am in London so expect that most providers would be available.

Thank you.

Provider makes no difference here because the broadband technology in our village is snail paced! Good old Open Reach try and patch it up but it's dire. I wouldn't consider working from home because I can be off line quite a lot. We are 35 miles from central London in the Home Counties. Our house in Cornwall is lightening fast by comparison!

Talk Talk, my contract has expired & they are trying to get me to renew. Offered me £30 pcm for broadband, TV basic package, & basic phone. We also have mobile phones with them (the current offers aren't half such a good deal as they were last time). Would probably say yes if their customer service wasn't so appalling. I couldn't log into my online account for nearly a year after the hacking incident, & their advice was to contact them, online, via my account. (WTF!) Apparently they can't do individual account resets over the phone. I've been with them several years... last couple of times my contract came up, they were calling me every few weeks for about 6 months before expiry, to get me to renew. Not this time - they probably suspected that I'm cancelling & hoped it would run over. Correct! Never again. Bunch of bloody cowboys.*

*Entirely my own opinion & based on my experience only.

Bubbles, that's so frustrating. I didn't realise that it was still so bad.

Lego, I was with Talk Talk and left after the hacking. I seem to recall the actual delivery of the service wasn't too bad. But you have helpfully reminded me of their customer support Smile

I only really need broadband and only phone as a backup when working.

I live in a village in the north of england, work from home as a software developer - BT, for years as a business customer which was ok, though speeds weren't great - but now I've got fibre it's brilliant, esp as for some reason I don't understand its fibre to property not just to cabinet. Mind you, we were the first in our area to get it and they made a bit of a performance over the installation, but once they got it working, its been great.

I don't know offhand how much its costing, it does include phone as we do use the landline.

That's the thing. It's not fibre, it's a price hike which is why I am switching. Pisses me off.
It's BT infrastructure. I don't want to switch to cable / virgin because I've just had my front garden done and don't want it dig up 😁

Thanks for the link to the comparison. All the ones I have checked so far aren't very useful.

Have you checked whether or not you can get fibre?

tellybear · 29/06/2017 12:28

I am sorted now. Called them and then have switched me to a fibre deal for £28.98 🙄

It really annoys me that you need to constantly keep on top of all these utilities. Just switched gas/electric as well. Constant stream of administration.
