That is really clever - what exactly is a router & am I likely to have one?

Ok it's internet - but I'm guessing it's not my BT box?

If you have a BT Homehub then there is a USB slot on the back but you should email them to check

You might want to look at Hive from British Gas.

There are sensors that can do it but they are meant for industrial use and are expensive

We're taking our cat on holiday with us in a campervan

We will have air conditioning to keep him cool while we aren't in the van

This was an idea to ensure his safety but maybe a baby monitor might be

I'll look into the British Gas thing

It's a tricky situation

You are falling between two stools here. Baby monitors that check temperature do exist but they don't expect you to be far away and need wifi.

It's a conumdrum - I mean as long as the batteries are ok or if we have solar panels he'll be fine

But I don't really want to chance it iykwim I want a failsafe/warning

Or maybe some sort of fridge alarm?

I think I am taking one of these might that work as a server?

OP posts:
cdtaylornats · 20/01/2017 09:40

No its not a server it is a router working over 4G phone signals

You would need an EE 4G phone contract
The battery works for a max of 6 hours

Katymac · 20/01/2017 09:44

It plugs in (we have one) but then if the leisure batteries failed we'd have to be out for less than 6 hrs - possibly doable if the USB thing worked

I do make my life difficult

bit expensive

This is so close

The Philips device is bluetooth so 100m max range, you would also need to train the cat to push the button

Pet monitor might do it

That's interesting - I'll have a proper look
