If you have a BT Homehub then there is a USB slot on the back but you should email them to check

You might want to look at Hive from British Gas.

There are sensors that can do it but they are meant for industrial use and are expensive

You are falling between two stools here. Baby monitors that check temperature do exist but they don't expect you to be far away and need wifi.

It's a conumdrum - I mean as long as the batteries are ok or if we have solar panels he'll be fine

But I don't really want to chance it iykwim I want a failsafe/warning

No its not a server it is a router working over 4G phone signals

You would need an EE 4G phone contract
The battery works for a max of 6 hours

It plugs in (we have one) but then if the leisure batteries failed we'd have to be out for less than 6 hrs - possibly doable if the USB thing worked
