Microsoft Office

I need to buy Microsoft Office but I don't really know where to start really. I did a quick Google and from what I can gather the latest one is over £100.00. I don't really want to be spending anywhere near that much. I only need it for my personal laptop, so I think I only need a single use licence.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Do you really need MS office. There are (at least) two free clones that work just as well

I use Libreoffice www.libreoffice.org/
There is also OpenOffice www.openoffice.org/

There is also office 365 where you pay monthly. Around £4 a month

CD are both of those compatible with MS Office?

Yes both look essentially the same as Office and are able to read and write Office files they can also read/write a variety of other formats including pdf.

I've used LibreOffice for years and have had no trouble swapping files between home and work.

It depends on whether you need advanced features. I looked at OpenOffice and Libreoffice but gave up on them as they didn't have features I need.

You can get Office 365 from around £50 per year.
