Bluetooth earphones?

DD1 has broken the headphone socket on her phone - after much searching I can't get a new one for her phone model and my many attempts at repair haven't worked. (I suspect a connection has broken off inside the socket)
She has form for losing/breaking things (has ADHD - I have just replaced the screen!) It isn't an expensive phone but I don't want to buy her a new one but one of the main things she does is listen to music on it.
So stupid question time ... if I buy her bluetooth earphones am I right in that they will work even though the headphone socket is broken? And she can listen to music though them?
Any disadvantages?
(I am thinking also they may well last better than wired ones as well as she goes through loads of them - dirt cheap or expensive doesn't make a difference Sad)

Bluetooth headphones will work without the headphone socket but they are another thing to loose.

Disadvantages
Need changing
Quality of the music is not as good depending on BT version

What model of phone is it? It may like a Nexus5 have a replaceable headphone socket

It is a ZTE blade mini Q - I really can't seem to get the headphone socket - I managed to get the screen from china on ebay. But no sign of headhone sockets anywhere...
And ZTE tell you to go to the supplier (Virgin) - who wanted to charge me £66 for the screen replacement ...(screen cost about £12 and I did it myself) - could have got a new phone for £80!
If it will work I will try cheap blue tooth earphones and see how she gets on ...thinking about getting her a new phone for Christmas/her birthday anyway ...
This is just wear and tear I think...and she hasn't lost it for almost 18 months (her previous phone she lost countless times but luckily we bar once got it back)
But then her (thankfully second hand) laptop has been repaired once and is now broken again...through pure carelessness ....all within less than a year.
(was talking to other parents with ADHD teens...it is a common problem and they either get cheap phones or pay a couple of hundred a year for repair and/or replace insurance... Sad)

Can find any info on line, you could try tacking the cover off and pushing in on the headphone contacts

Thanks - I have tried lots of things....
When I had it in pieces (replacing the screen) I noticed the bottom bit (assume an earth? -couldn't find many diagrams on line) was like metallic tape and loose so I taped a piece of tin foil to it. I did fit a tiny broken bit of connector loose in the case which I suspect came from them but I can't work out where from or I'd try a drop of solder or something and I have tried different earphones - expensive and cheap ones to see if that made a difference and it didn't Sad
If the bluetooth ones don't work for her I'll have another try at repair...
(Most annoying thing was they broke about two days after I'd ordered the new screen....)
