Grrr - Adware. Can anyone help?

I can't get rid of adware on my desktop.

I've identified four programs - Bocarunner, SeekerFunc, SystemVisual and TrimModule. I couldn't uninstall them from the control panel so I deleted the program files.

But they are still showing up in the control panel. When I try to uninstall them it says "The specified module cannot be found."

It's a PC running Windows 7.

Please can anyone help? Do I need to buy some anti-malware and if so, what?

Thank you from a very grateful cheese Smile

Ok, I have malware bytes working now, hurray! It's going through everything cleaning it up but is having some problems getting rid of some stubborn stuff.

I am so looking forward to to a clean PC.

I'm glad things are working for you now - if you do get stuck on removing anything they will help you out on the MalwareBytes forums.

Thanks.

I've run it three times now and it still can't get rid of the malware.

I will try the help forums.

It's no good. It's so fucked now (worse than when I started this morning) I've called the local computer repair guy and he's coming to pick it up later this afternoon.

MalwareBytes has allegedly repaired loads of stuff but it's completely unusable (I've been posting on my iPad).

On the plus side the computer repair guy is Ricky Gervais Doppelgänger so that raised a smile Smile

Often one type of software is not enough. I had to download and run four separate anti-virus / malware programmes to get rid of adware.

CheddarGorgeous · 02/09/2015 15:20

Trying to fix the problem has made it a thousand times worse, I am handing it all over to Ricky in an hour.

My Husband had to rebuild his Pc once it all got so bad, sometimes it is unrepairable.

CheddarGorgeous · 02/09/2015 16:58

Ricky has been and taken it away. He promises it back by the weekend and said he might have to wipe it and start again, but I can cope with that.

0x - is there really another CheddarGorgeous out there? This is not my "main" mumsnet name so I am not that attached to it.

Re-install the system could help you uninstall those annoying adware programs from the PC easily and quickly. But you have to use another methods if you have lots of important files in the system. There are many free anti-spyware programs on the internet and some of them might help you. I got pop-up ad gamewonderland com caused by adware and I removed it by following these tips: blog.doofix.com/guide-to-remove-gaming-wonderland-pop-ups/

Hello! You just need to look into the settings of Google and Yahoo and put unnecessary checkmarks in the ban on advertising.
