Hello - I was having problems with my cursor disappearing on my Toshiba laptop so I called John Lewis helpdesk as it still under guarantee. The tech support personsaid it sounded like a software problem so wasn't covered but suggested a factory reset might solve it. I've backed up and done factory reset but now it won't reboot - it says there are no media files. Ive got it to InsydeH20 page but it's meaningless to me - any ideas?

I would take it back to John Lewis "sounds like a software problem" isn't much of a diagnosis. Take it back and ask them to prove its not a hardware problem. At least that way they will have to get it rebooting.

Did you backup to CD, if so put the first disc in and then reboot.
Sounds like it is looking for the factory install discs. Sometimes those are on a partition of the harddisk - you may need to press a key combination on boot to access menu for restore. Google the exact model details to see if you can find info on how to restore it.

I backed up to an external drive. I've since been in touch with JL support again who have decided it no longer sounds like a software issue and have offered a free repair. I've just dropped it off and they then told me it could take FOUR WEEKS! Grrrr - I've always hated that laptop and am desperately holding out for Windows 10 soI can go out and buy a new one.
