I'm really not up on this, but I'm not naive enough to think DS isn't entering a stage where he might try soon (even if it's the innocent equivalent of my generation looking up rude words in a dictionary - whole different ball game on the internet)

On the lap top he's his own account, set as a child's with weekly reports emailed. (Though I just followed the laptop set up to get that)

Try going on settings;

  • click on 'General'
  • scroll down and look for 'Restrictions'
  • turn 'Restrictions' on
  • then scroll down to see what you want to restrict.
  • id also restrict the app store aswell well and put a password that only you know and you ave to log in to type. Just so you dont get a massive bill

As above for Google.

You can also put content restrictions on YouTube. There are instructions online on how to do this.

You should also set up the AppStore or Google Play so that in app purchases are disabled. In the AppStore you can also set it so that every App download has to have a password entered first. No sure if you can do that on Android though.

Thanks.

It's an Android and there's no way to password each down load (which is a pain) but there's no credit card details in so no purchasing app anyway.

I'd like there to be something Wifi controllable as more and more gadgets can access the internet - any future phones will be smart ones no doubt!!

Gah!! Can I go back in time?

It's worth setting up the password for Google Play if you can. It's not just a cost issue. Some free apps can have adult content. Others such as Betternet allow users to install VPNs that can circumvent internet restrictions.

Ooh thanks ItsAllGoingToBeFine. Don't know how I missed that. I checked when I got my tablet.

Oh dear I'm going to need a dummies guide.

That's only for paid for apps though - free ones dont require a password.
