Is apple Aperture worth £50?

I read that iPhoto & aperture are being ditched & a middle product is now used instead- with the new os Yosemite.

I have photoshop elements but I just can't get to grips with it at all Hmm
So I would use aperture to fix backgrounds, dodgy teeth, spots, text on photos & some arty stuff.

I know they won't be supporting aperture after ditching it, but I'm presuming it works pretty well now, as it's been out for years.

Can anyone advise if it's a totally stupid idea to get aperture? (At the moment I'm not planning on getting Yosemite on my 2009 mac book as I don't think it could handle it)

Thanks!

Buy Adobe Lightroom instead. Costs approx £100, is totally awesome and will do all your cataloguing, key-wording as well as many many adjustements. You can download a 30 day trial for free to see if you like it.

Photoshop Elements is excellent but famously un-user friendly. If you want to get to grips with that I'd suggest buying a couple of the excellent Digital Photography magazines that contain DVD tutorials.

Ah that makes me feel better for not being able to use elements. Do feel a bit of a plonker shelling out & it's too awful to use.
Good idea about the training DVDs I will look out for them thanks
Can't afford Lightroom, sadly.

Has anyone any experience of aperture?
