I have the largest capacity I Pad so plenty of room. However, now I have used up the I Cloud back up. I am not keen on putting credit card on to buy more. I would be grateful if someone could let me know if it is necessary to have I Cloud back up in order to see items purchased and photos etc transferred on another Apple computer as a matter of course. I am considering buying an Apple Mac Pro laptop but would want to access items automatically from my I Pad. Would I need to purchase more I cloud in order to co-ordinate the two. My ID would be the same so I would not be given more storage. Apple now require storage to be purchased on a monthly basis and have stopped the annual payment facility. That is another reason for not really wanting to purchase more storage. Would be really pleased if anyone has got an understanding of I Cloud and could help me understand if I really need this back up.

Me too. I'm in the same situation.

If your storage is full, nothing else will be uploaded. So your Pro would update with the things currently in the cloud, but not future photos.

Apps are accessible on any apple device anyway, they don't use icloud storage. A lot of iPad apps aren't optimised for Mac books, though, so they might not run, or they might load badly/very small.

I have four Macs and an iPad and they all sync fine.

Have you checked if you can buy an iTunes voucher and use that to buy icloud storage? I'm not sure if you still can, but that would mean you could buy the voucher is Sains etc, and don't have to input your CC details.

Thank you Infinity. Oh! Dear, it is as I feared. No I enquired but you can't use an I Tune card which is what I use for all the usual purchases. I will wait until I get new computer and see how things pan out. This new monthly system is obviously intended to stop people removing card details once they have paid an annual fee. Good old Apple. They never miss a trick! Thank you for your help. As you can see Justinepants needed to know as well. Wonder what she is going to do!

Justinepants now we have heard from Infinity, what are you going to do? Would be interested even tho I expect there is only the bullet to be bitten!

How about buying a prepaid debit card, then?

You could top up with the amount you need, and they'll have those details, but won't have access to any additional money.

But yes, Apple are quite good at making sure they have your details!

Well, I haven't heard of a prepaid debit card. I will find out about them. That sounds really promising. Thank you so much. That sounds as if it could be the answer.
