Ipad mini from America

Hi I'm considering purchasing an Ipad mini when I visit America soon. I'll be using it in the UK.
I've searched online but can't work out if this is a good idea for 3G versions. (wifi only seems to be fine).
I'm aware that there may be potential issues with the warranty but am willing to take this risk.
Can anyone please advise about any other issues. Thank you

dh travels a lot with work and we have bought both an ipad mini (wifi one though) and a macbook air from the states, haven't had any problems with either. we bought a time capsule from singapore and had problems with it, took it to our local apple store and they replaced it for free.

only issue we had with the ipad mini was the plug it came with for charging is an american one.

Not quite your issue but I bought an ipod in the applestore in us years ago and when it broke i had no issue returning it and getting a replacement in the uk. I have bought an ipad in US too but wasnt 3g and never had problems. Buy in the applestore is my advice because if you have an issue you can return in the UK.

there's info if you google usa ipad 3g uk, looks like it will be fine as long as the ipad you buy is unlocked so it can work with any uk network.

If you go to the "Buy now" link on the Apple US site it says (of the Wi-Fi + Cellular version of the iPad Mini):

iPad mini with Wi-Fi + Cellular can roam worldwide on GSM/UMTS networks. In countries without compatible LTE networks, iPad mini will operate on GSM network technologies such as HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA.

This page here also suggests they're just producing a single worldwide version (rather than different versions for different countries). It also says that it will be compatible with 4G (LTE) from all the UK networks if you want even higher speeds.

In summary: it should work fine. You'll just need a nano-SIM from a UK mobile supplier. Giffgaff does 1GB a month for £7.50 as a data-only "gigabag" although all the providers can supply data-only SIMs so it's worth looking around.

The only other thing to consider is the power supply. It will come with a US one. An official Apple UK power supply is something like £15-20. You can get much cheaper ones on Amazon or eBay but some of them are more than a bit on the dodgy side.
